Verify Address Skill
Overview
The verify_address skill uses the managed Smarty connection to verify and standardize US addresses. It returns a status, standardized address components, and compact review signals. It does not update Salesforce records itself.
The skill consumes 20 iDialogue credits per invocation. Model token usage is billed separately.
Supported Addresses
The current skill supports US addresses only. A blank country or common United States variants such as US, USA, and United States are accepted. International verification and business-at-address enrichment are not available.
Inputs
The skill receives Salesforce record context and address fields:
- record ID, object type, and address type, such as billing, shipping, or mailing
- street, city, state, and postal code
- country
- optional apartment, suite, floor, or other secondary value
At least one street, city, state, or postal-code value must be supplied.
Results And Address Signals
The result uses one of these statuses:
ValidValid with warningsInvalid / Not verified
When Smarty returns the data, the result can also show:
- deliverability: confirmed, warning, or not confirmed
- missing or unrecognized suite or unit information
- a standardized secondary value
- CMRA or private-mailbox status
- PO Box or General Delivery status
- residential or commercial classification
- vacancy, no-stat, inactive, and R7 delivery warnings
- a non-postal match where USPS delivery is not confirmed
Treat these signals as review inputs, not automatic fraud conclusions. If required suite or unit information remains unresolved, confirm it with the user before any separate Salesforce update.
Prompt Guidance
Use verify_address when the user asks to verify or standardize a US address.
Summarize the verification status and Address Signals clearly.
Treat CMRA, address type, vacancy, and delivery warnings as review inputs, not proof of fraud.
Do not recommend a Salesforce update while required suite or unit information is unresolved.
Setup And Troubleshooting
- The Smarty connection and skill are enabled by iDialogue Support for approved orgs.
- If a non-US country is submitted, the skill returns an unsupported-country message without calling Smarty.
- If the result is not verified, ask the user to confirm or correct the address.
- See the Smarty API connection guide for connection scope and availability.
